"The Fall of the Idol".
The opening lines of "The Fall of the Idol" are: "William was bored. He sat at his desk in the sunny schoolroom and gazed dispassionately at a row of figures on the blackboard." The story in which it continues, "It was the summer holiday." is called "William and the Campers" and is found in the book "William- The Detective".
