1970s children's book
11 Answers
This is a tough one... I had a detective/mystery paperback as a kid in the 70's, and at the end of each chapter you had to solve the clues in the picture which led you to the next stage. One puzzle to solve had a sheet of paper that had been torn into about 8 pieces - you had to mentally put them together to read the clue. I think at one point the child detective had to go to Paris?
Like I said, it's a tough one (especially as I have no title or author information).

I think I remember this book. One of the puzzles was two pictures of the insde of a London Underground carriage, before and after the lights had gone out and you had to spot who had moved between the two pictures. One of the guys was holding his newspaper upside down in the second picture. I loved that book! (if it IS the same one). If I remember correctly, it was called something like The Redhand Gang (although NOT that). Maybe blackhand gang? :S
Well, as you were so brilliantly inspired, leave your email address and, should I be lucky enough to get a copy from the US, I will contact you in order to forward it once I have re-read (and revisited) my childhood. Also, I think that it's probably more fitting for your nephew's bookcase than mine...
