but be warned, it weighs in at just over �200(!) or there's always the option of a year's subscription to the OED online, which is more expensive (�195+VAT), but obviously more regularly updated. See http://www.oed.com/ for details

Dearie me, dearie me, dearie me. Thanx for the reverence sight, parrently nun of the cheepies is compattibul with Windas XP ither. I really wanted an offline one as I'm almost past reading print. Ah well, thank goodness for the internet and Answerbank.
I acquired the NEW SHORTER OXFORD ENGLISH DICTIONARY for "free" (ie full product given away on a computer magazine some years ago - rrp�29.99). Not as good as above obviously, but good value i thought. Look out for a similar offer again in the future? . . .

Came to this a bit late - Apologies. By sheer concidence, I happen to have been given as a gift recently a brand-new, immaculate 2-Volume set of the Shorter Oxford English Dictionary, unopened and unused, r.r.p quite a bit.
