I am really stumped on a couple and would greatly appreciate any help - closing date 06/06/07
What is the connection between:
Red Hot Poker La gare Dr Demento Old maid Rummy. I feel that the connection is card games but I have never heard of La gare or Dr Demento.
Who used to say 'Five down , ten to go' and what connects him to: May 20 1810 Alan Jardine Hammond Innes Quantock Hills
'Babe you're getting closer, the lights are going dim' is the first line of which 1977 no1 hit. This connects with: Louth Clare Dominic Monaghan Virginia Mayo so the conenection is Counties o Republic of Ireland but I can't get the answer to the no 1 hit.
Hi Granny Grump. Are you really a granny (as I am now)
and are you grumpy?
The first connection is I believe card games, but perhaps you could check on the second and third answers and have another look at them.
Babe you're getting closer, etc. The song is "Way Down"
Down being a county in Northern Ireland. So the connection is counties in Ireland collectively and not just the south.
Will have a think about your second question.
Thank you kempie - I've been on 15 to one many moons ago & I still couldn't get it - can you see a connection? even with the last answer I can't get it.
Thankyou brokenbank - I will keep googling dr demento
Hi obsessed ,Yes I am a granny (of 11) and as for 'grump' it depends who you talk to! Actually I coined the phrase as I work in an office of young things - my other nickname - also coined by me is 'The old trout'
Are you a new granny - how many how old?. My eldest grandaughter is due to make me a greatgrand mother in October. My husband said he has just got to grips with sharing his bed with a grandma - he doesn't think that he can manage a great granny! thanks for your help
What answers do you have for section F? I may have a couple wrong which will obviously affect the connection.. Have seen your post for the new quiz - my cheque will be in the post tomorrow
Evening all ...
Connection F GG I have something else ... if you want a clue for the moment try ...
May Jardine Hammond Stewart Gower ... the last name should be your best clue but only if I am right !!! xx
Many thanks Headley - by george you've got it. I was relying on my schoolgirl French and it let me down. And I've no idea where I got Dr Demento from instead of Napoleon 14th. As soon as I saw that it all came flooding back. all done an dusted now.
Many thanks earthakitten - I've finally got it. Talk about thick. I've been trying batsmen/bowlers/LH/RH/born abroad etc. etc. It didn't help that I was looking for a cricketer named Innes instead of Hammond. Himself looked at the list and said 'They're all England Captains!'
Why don't I see the obvious first?
All done and dusted now and thanks again for all the help. Good luck to anyone else who is doing it
