the last is in "I claudius" by robert graves.
Hitler had a moustache ever since his Corporal days in WW1, but when he became Nazi leader he decided to trim it to a narrow length so as to look as he thought 'distinguished'.
It may be worth checking 'Young Adolf' by Beryl Bainbridge in which he works at The Adelphi in Liverpool.
