How do you get the word processer to accent the letter e where appropriate, such as in the name Sinead?

In Microsoft products you can use the "character map" then search under the font you like for the desired accented letter. Copy then paste it into your document. "Sin�ad"
On my keyboard with Windows ME if you use press the 'Alt' key and whilst holding it down use the numeric keypad on the right and put in 138 the let go of the 'Alt' key you get � similarly for � its 'Alt' 167 and so on for hours of mindless entertainment. Trudi
in Word you can press "insert" then select "symbol" then whichever font you are using, and it will offer you all the diiferent accented letters.Just select and it will insert it your document.
ps - you can also assign a shortcut key to it if you are going to use a particular symbol or letter often.
BTW the accent on the e in Sinead is a fada.
as in the popular song...'hello mudder, hello fada'?? Sorry, not pertenant to the question..smacks wrist.

You can insert characters with fadas by holding down the "Alt Gr" button when pressing the desired letter key - it's as simple as that.
agre� with j2 use the character m�p. :-)
