Well, almost just 12 hours to go! I am a little bit giddy, I must say!

I just wanted to know, with all the talk of spoilers from the USA and early releases, if you knew you could get hold of plot info that had been leaked, would you? Or would it totally spoil your reading experience?

I would never look for plot info before reading the book, it would definitely dampen the thrill.

Never. I would never read the spoilers. I probably wont put it down tomorrow but I wouldnt spoil it by someone else having tell me what happened in it. I know I will be staying away from here till I have read it.

Gs, I agree totally! No net, no phone, no tv, no radio, partner gagged with parcel tape! Actually, he is really good, if he hears anything he'll keep it to himself.

I think it's such a shame when people open their big mouths, it truly ruins the pleasure of reading, because those who enjoy the books aren't just reading to find out the ending (tbh I don't even want it to end!), they are enjoying the entire book.

Then you'd best not google 'hallows zomg spoiler'

I bought a copy of Great Expectation and the passage on the back cover said 'Pip is finally reunited with his childhood love' which gives away the last page and ruined the suspense.

Then I won't, Aschenbach!

What a shame, that's just careless of the publisher isn't it?

No way, spoiling the whole experience, its very out of order for people that try and do it, but we wont let them win ay!!!!
i wont be on here all weekend and hope to get it read my monday! lets wait and see, cant wait! x

confused, in week or so when most people have managed to read some of it, we'll have to have a chat about what we think, without giving anything away! I hope you find the time to get stuck in. I told my partner long ago that he would be on dog-walking duties all weekend, and that he wouldn't see me at all, until food was required! He was sympathetic, despite having no interest at all in HP!

I had best go and read the last few chapters of HBP again to refresh my memory-I haven't had chance to read it all! No forward thinking :( oops!

x
Good gracious, leela, call yourself a fan?
Have already got myself up to speed with HBP and dressed in black head to foot and ready to go to bookshop at the witching hour. Pre-ordered at Waterstone's but now find out that Asda is doing a BBQ as well!
And to answer your question, NO - I don't want to spoil it in any way. I shall, however, be watching the Blue Peter special at 4.30.
Do you think that's a bit sad for a 58 year old?
Does any one have an idea at how big the new book is i.e how many chapters someone said its about as big as order of the pheonix?
I have done my best to avoid any spoilers so far (and they are called spoliers for a reason as they SPOIL it for everyone!!). I shall be waiting eargerly for the postman tomorrow morning and spending the whole weekend reading it - like I did with the last one. I will though probably flip to the last page and see if the JK did end the book with the word 'scar' as she said she might!
Just a note for Aschenbach - Dickens wrote two endings for Great Expectations. In the first one he does not get it together with Estelle, but he meets her at The Great Exhibition and she is married to someone else (not the bully of a husband she married first). this caused a bit of a furour when it was first published, so he rewrote the happy ending later - bit like Hollywood does to some novels!

As to HP. I have ordered my copy from Amazon which should come tomorrow morning or I will be off to the supermarket. J K Rowling has changed the last word, it is now not "scar", but that word is in the last sentence. There is also the interview with Richard & Judy last year when she said she would not kill off Harry.

My candidates for the chop are:

Neville - I think he was supposed to be the chosen one - this is alluded to several times.

Hermione - think about it - she is muggle born - Malfoy, Voldemort et al hate her for that. Secondly, she is the cleverest one. If you wanted to defeat Harry, you would want Hermione out of the way first. One of the characters is killed three chapters from the end (JK Rowling said so on Jonathan Ross show, she said she cried buckets when she wrote this chapter, and Hermione is her favourite character because she was so like herself at school), I think this is significant.

We will soon know.

Happy Reading!

Bet you can't guess what I'm getting for my birthday in approx 8 hours!!
Apparently it is 37 chapters and almost 800 pages. Good luck to all in getting through it before the media take over and spoil it for all!

Hear no evil, see no evil etc...!

Less than 3 hours to go. And I finished work early, so now I am sitting around twiddling my thumbs. All anxious! x
Hope you're still there Leela cos I need somebody to keep me awake.
The rain has stopped (I think) so the trip to the shop's still on.
I think the BBQ as Asda's will be a bit of a washout so pleased I'm going to Waterstone's.
Anybody got any Proplus?
Mammar, are you going to get it at midnight? That's dedication!
Yes if it's fine otherwise me and me mobility scooter will be washed away in the floods.
(I'm not really old but me legs have packed up working)
I've got my poster of Hogwart's Express to fix on the front and me daughter says she's not standing near me.
Are you going to help keep me awake please, Meglet?
I've got a great image of you on your scooter zooming towards the supermarket, wind in your hair, stelly glint in your eye, with one purpose only - to get your hands on that book! Thing is, how long are you going to end up staying up and reading it for? If it was me I'd last a couple of chapters before I was fighting sleep! Have you reread HBP? I did last week as I've made the mistake before of getting the new one and forgetting where we left off!
Meggie (that's the name of my daughter's loony labrador - lovable old thing!) please read my earlier post.
OF COURSE I've re-read the HBP. I am an organised person.
My daughter has just left the cinema and is making her way to Waterstone's and , in the absence of rain, my coat's going on in about 28 minutes.
Sorry, silly of me, of course you have. I'm really excited about finding out how it all ends, but also so sad that there won't be anymore. And I don't think HP will die in the end, JK couldn't do that to her readers surely?
