does anyone remember an Enid Blyton story about an elf called Big Ears who had to shell peas for his aunts lunch and couldn't remember why he had tied a knot in his hanky? If so can you tell me which book it was in I think it may have been something like the yellow story book.

Thanks Beads
Just realised I misnamed the elf. His name was Too Hot.
( Too Hot and The Peas) I also thought it was in the Yellow Story Book but when I looked at it in a bookshop I couldn't find the story. I must have another look

You're welcome wendypol.
On the link there is a 'contact us' section so you could ask them. I'll have a little search too to see if there is anything about - I loved Enid! :)
Here's another Blyton site:

I love Enid Blyon too. I've read all her books; wish I had them to read again.
society - me too! Do you remember the faraway tree? So cute!
... when I started one I never could stop reading until I reached the end. I remember using flashlights at night to read them, because I had to turn the lights off.
me too! I just couldn't put them down. The way she wrote was great, you felt like you were there! :)
I was a huge Enid fan as a child (probably still am!) I loved the Famous Five the most, but had the Faraway tree books too & also a few ones that had short stories in.I really do remember one book called "The Six Bad Boys" & it seemed so much more grim & gritty (although at the age of about 8 in the 1960's I wouldn't have known "grim & gritty") I ought to read it again!
Kinda wish I'd kept all my Enid books.

Thanks everyone this question seems to have awakwned many childhood memories. I see on the web that there is an Enid Blyton society that you can join. I have fond memories of Mary Mouse, even today when I see school girls with their short skirts, black tights and very thin legs I am taken back to reading of her and her job looking after the children as their nanny.
