will soon start on A Breath of Snow and Ashes. In that order, each book is a unit, but better as a continuing story.
They're hefty volumes but the story about a nurse who lands in the middle of the Jacobite Rebellion after going through a circle of stones in the Scottish Highlands is written with humour and is interwoven with historical fact.
Try Cross Stitch first and see how you like it.
Hope this helps

Hi there tickledtrout
I have to say that unless you are a fan of mills and boon claptrap then don't bother with this. I was given a copy of Cross stitch and thought it was chronic......full of tripe like 'he swaggered through the heather with his kilts flowing in the breeze his muscles rippling' swoon swoon ARRGGH!!!
And as for her supposedly 'Scottish' narrative, there's not much to pick between that and Mel Gibson's absolutely shocking attempt at a Scottish accent in Braveheart.
Historically incorrect over romanticised rubbish IMO ("Jamie made a fire in a sheltered spot, and sat down next to it. The rain had eased to a faint drizzle that misted the air and spangled my eyelashes with rainbows when I looked at the flames") However if thats your thing then go for it.

You're very welcome tickledtrout. Bit of a scathing review of her work I'm afraid but it is of course just my opinion. I know that lots of women do enjoy that kind of book (my mother in law loves them) but they're not for me I'm afraid. Perhaps its an age thing ;-) lol.
Hope you find something rivetting to read soon x
