The book '1984' was author George Orwell's nightmare vision of a totalitarian future. In order to maintain its iron grip on its downtrodden citizens, the powers-that-be created the mysterious 'Room101' in which any citizen would be forced to face his or her worst nightmare - for the novel's hero Winston Smith, his personal nightmare was rats - Room 101 obliged!
