Hi, is there a way/programme available to help my 11 yr old create a Pop Art type picture. Her teacher reckons that you can do it on either Word or Paint.....but I'm bu**ered if I can find it!!!! it needs to be a relatively simple.

Divegirl - had a play and best I can come up with is this so far. Insert picture into word, right click it and select 'show picture toolbar' On the control bar is a button called 'image control' (two paralel blocks in graduating shades of grey) click on this and select 'black and white' This reduces the picture to purely dark and light image. I tried inserting different background colours but couldn't do it so you may need to colour it in manually or print on different coloured paper.

Look at Start > All Programs > Accessories > Paint.

Better for your purpose than Word IMHO.

If its an Andy Warhol Marilyn type picture ( probably the most famous of all) I would get her to do a photo of herself as I said and then colour it in then hey presto her own Andy Warhol! http://www.webexhibits.org/colorart/marilyns.h tml

Mind you I know what you mean - you try really hard to help them and it's still not what they want lol!
A program called 2paint will do this and has been flogged to schools for a couple of years. I expect what you hsve experienced is the scenario of a techer not realising YOU NEED THE PROGRAM to do the work. Ask again at school how one was expected to fulfill this task. \unless perhaps school meant, rent a loft in manhattan, take a sh1tload of pills and invite all d-list celebs to hang out. Did Andy Warhol no end of good.

Don't know if you managed to get your problem solved but a simple way to get a vaguely pop-art photo is to open a picture in Paint (right click on the file name, go to 'Open with' and select 'Paint'. When it opens go to the Image menu and select 'Invert Colours'. This obviously inverts the colours which looks odd and a bit pop-arty. Your child could then try filling in blocks of colour freehand as in the Warhol Marylins... There seem to be a lot of tutorials out there but they need better graphics programmes - google "warhol tutorial" or similar.
