I am doing some research into the life of stephen duck an 18th century poet and am intrigued by a reference to TUBAL CAIN in a poem entitled " on several occasions". Does this indicate that perhaps he was either acquainted with freemasonry or was actually a mason. many thanks in advance. Z

Tubalcain was a biblical character (Old Testament), who was a skilled worker with iron and brass...Does this help?

many many thanks in a pickle. Suspect you are probably right about the lack of a masonic connection. I Was under the impression that the balance of his mind was probably somewhat disturbed after his third wife pre-deceased him, which is why he threw himself into the thames at reading. Either that or he re-read some of his earlier works!!

Never heard of TUBAL CAIN but I have heard of Jubal Early and he certainlt wasnt a mason
