I have a painting by the above artist dated 1857 of my great grandfather.I have done various searches,using various combinations without luck.Can anyone help with finding details of this artist.By the way it is a watercolour.Thanks.

Hi there, i too have a painting by JA Wasse that i bought from a car boot, of a man in evening ware with a handsome moustache and beard! i wonder weather its your grandad? its dated 1870 i think. I put in a google search to find out about the painter and got the link to your question, i wonder weather you have had any info about mr Wasse!!!? please email me with any feed back all the best John Stevenson.

Didn't expect an answer after all this time. My painting was painted a year after my great grandfathers death in 1856.(Info courtesy of Antiques Roadshow). Wasse is not well known because he was never hung in The Royal Academy but is well known in the Manchester area. My email is [email protected] if you would like to see a photo.
