Fairy Tale

Does anybody remember a fairytail about a boy who finds and stays in a house in the woods for a night with loads of different animals. Then some burgulars arrive to rob the house and the animals bite and peck at them? It is driving me mad and I'm sure I have not dreamt it?

It sounds like the Musicians of Bremen, only there is no boy in that story. The animals, all abandoned by their owners, travel together, heading for Bremen where they intend to make their living as musicians. En route, they find a house full of bandits, scare them out using their special skills (the donkey kicks, the cat scratches, etc), and live there happily ever after.
