I haven't bought the book but might if I see it in a Charity shop.
What sort of stuff do you read, mariner2?

By becoming the worst possible role model for every uneducated teenage girl in the country you mean, and ensuring that we will be overrun with Vicki Pollard chavs.
She was ignorant, foul-mouthed and revolting in just about every way, and only did the awareness of cancer bit at Max Clifford's insistence so he could string out the cash cow a bit longer. Just my opinion , of course.

You are foul mouthed too! Many people use the f-word because of their upbringing. She did. Do you? I found her ok and not at all revolting and if she was uneducated that's hardly her fault.
I didn't know of her existance until the papers were full of her story.
She adored her children and new husband so that is good.
I only know of Eve Pollard.
Am interested to know which book should be No. 1 and did you buy it?

no one is saying it's a classic. people can choose to read what they wish, it doesn't make them better or worse than the rest of us. personally, I occasionally watch rubbish tv, but it doesn't make me any less intelligent (check out this spelling!) or a lower class.
anyway, if the book is at no. 1 it suggests that her "fans" a)have money, b) they choose to spend it on books and c) they can, and indeed do read.
be impressed!

except for the bit about being significant.

the fourth-best-selling book on Amazon's list (this is international, not UK) isn't even going to be published for another four months. I have no idea what this says about anyone.

The bestselling British books on that list appear to be a cookery book from the BBC and some articles on medical malpractice from the Guardian. Bear in mind that W H Smith sells only a very limited range of books these days.
