What does (sic) mean? Its always at the end of a mispelled(sic) word, but what does it mean?

I seem to remember that it is short for Latin "sicut" meaning as per Allen's post.

About the only Latin I know is

sic semper tyrannus

thus always unto tyrants

sic = thus

This is largely irrelevant but it's such a good line.  I believe it's from "I'm Sorry, I Haven't a Clue":

An alternative translation of the latin "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" is "Gloria was unwell during a van journey earlier this week."

I had a feeling it was Latin

if u mean in slang, then it means good, but if u mean latin i have no IDEA!! lol
