Children's ballet book

Oops!!!
I'm hoping someone will be able to help me with a book I read when I was younger. All I can remember about it was that it was set in the early part of the last century (probably Edwardian) and the main character was a girl who wanted to be a ballet dancer but she became ill with scarlet fever. I can't remember anything else about the book. I seem to remember it was called something like Scarlet Fever (but all that comes up with that title on t'interweb are medical books!! The copy I read was a hardback "school library" book with a picture of a girl waiting at the side of a stage on it. It is definitely not any of the more well known ballet books like "Ballet shoes". It's bugged me for years and I'd really like to find it again.

I'm not much of a one for historical books ... bit dull ...
But this one takes you there. It doesn't tell you about medieval England ... it puts you there, and asks ... where are you going to stay tonight? and what will you find to eat? and what are you going to wear today?
It's such a clever approach. I'm really enjoying it.
Still no luck, andyellie?
