For instance, the son of a work colleague of mine is now taller than his mum, walks around in those huge jeans and hoodies and rarely smiles because he wears braces on his front teeth. This is quite a menacing image. Actually he is a very shy pleasant imaginative boy who wouldn't hurt a fly. I am my Mum's youngest daughter and to her I am still the scatty baby of the family. At work I am the boss who has certain standards and expects things to run properly and does not tolerate anything else! You could also Google on "the velveteen Rabbit" for a sweet short story on appearances
I would 'think out of the box' and draw /paint or take photos of things from a different angle so instead of maybe taking photos of people above the waist, try getting down on the ground, but still include something interesting not just legs and feet - sorry I don't think I have explained it very well, but I know what I mean :(
Jules100 has a great idea going there. I've seen fascinating pictures of ordinary people and things from odd angles that are almost unrecognisable. Also, how about wearing someone/thing else's eyes? Human skin from a flea's perspective? Grass to a field mouse? Also what about looking at something through, say, frosted glass, or through a physical barrier like a keyhole or binoculars.

i think it's this sort of thing that everyone's suggesting
also, don't just take the title at face value
