A brief history of nearly everything by Bill Bryson should keep you amused for 6 hours or so.  Factor in eating time and queuing for the toilet, you'll be fine.

In fact anything that can easily be picked up & put down between naps

as many Nicci French books as possible, they are fantastic thrillers, I envy people who havent read them yet.

Middlemarch by George Eliot for the return leg.  Nice and chunky plus those Penguin classics are about 25p a pop which will leave change to get Heat magazine for the last 30 mins.
