I can sit on mine easily, but I wear it pinned up all the time, I think I'd like it cut, but my hubby would be horrified. It's in good condition, the ends get trimmed regularly, and even though I'm 50, I have no grey i it.

Keep it!! I had all mine chopped off when I was in my late teens and I still massively regret it to this day.
If it's in good condition, then there's absolutely no reason you should have it cut off... unless you really, really want to of course.
I say keep it. I think it looks lovely.
When you need the money more.

Please excuse me for being thick, but I don't understand your answer, scotman.
If you were to have it cut Rapunzel you'd have to change your name!

Do whatever you want to do - if you want to cut it hubby would get used to it, or on the other hand don't cut it just because you're 50! How about cutting about 6 inches off as a start and see how you go.
For hair as long as you say, if it is in good nick, you could sell it to wig-makers etc for a good few quid.
What height are you?
It really depends on the individual and how they wear their hair. Older ladies with long hair can look "wrong". You're not by any means old, though! Does it bother you having to maintain long hair? I wonder why your husband is so keen on your keeping it. I would find it a pain looking after it and having to keep it dressed all the time - but it really has to be your decision!
I think long hair on older ladies makes them look even older.
I love long hair, wish I could grow mine but I have a grey streak at the front so feel I would look like Lily Munster. There are some lovely styles for long hair, pinned up or not. Short hair is more trouble than long as I have to fiddle about with it most mornings but with long hair you can just put it up and it looks good.

Oh I see scotman - goodness no - I wouldn't sell it, not sure quite what I'd do with it, but I don't need the money! I suppose I could have it made into extensions, and put it back on when I wanted long hair again.

Well, I usually wear it in a long fancy plait. When 'down' and brushed it reaches to just above my knees, I'm 5' 10 in stocking feet. I wash and condtion it once a week, and deep condition once every 6 weeks at the hairdressers. I'm lucky that I have 'normal hair' not dry or greasy, it just goes a littl dull when it wants washing.
What?!! It reaches to just above your knees?? Oh my gosh!

I would cut a bit off it, maybe to the waist. I didn't realise it was *that* long. Wow! :)
If you're happy with it, keep it! You're obviously tall enough to carry it off. My great aunt had really long hair but is only 4 foot 10. She had it cut much shorter and looked so much better. She's got an enormous bust too which looks ridiculous on her frame but everyone commented how much slimmer/better/younger she looked after the chop.
You should post a pic of the back of you, just so we can see :)
keep it, rapunzel!
if its in good nick like you say it is, id leave it as it is and enjoy it for a few more years.
pin it up, wear it down, curl it, straighten it.... just enjoy it!
and anyway, 50s not old!
i saw a woman walk by the other day, lovely long hair down past her bum, definitely eye catching, it was... didnt even see the short haired girl who was with her! lol
can you take us a back view photo of it for us, so we can have a little peek?
Oh and I'm so envious that you only have to wash your hair once a week, I have to do mine every morning!
er...whenever you want!

there are no rules...jeez where do people get this stuff from?!

there is not some old peoples uniform that we all have to have the second we get old you know!

old people hairstyles are a product of their youth...its not because they have to have it that way...its because most of them had it that way when they were young!

keep your hair long as long as you please
to your knees?! blimey rap, that IS long!
maybe id cut a bit off then, but id still keep it lovely and long:o)

oooh post a pic up rapunzel, id love to see it!
I have a friend in her 70s who has very long hair - I have only seen it up in a bun sort of thing. It is always nice and healthy looking.

However older ladies with long hair down 'can' look odd - like witches.
Blimey, didn't realise it was so long, perhaps have some cut off, but whatever you decide just do what makes you happy.
I always sit on my hair and Im 53!!

OK, So I just got a hairy ass!!
