Hi, I've never been one for daily skincare, I don't wear much make up and tend to just scrub off what I wear in the bath!
As part of my new 'all about me' regime lol I want to start using a daily face cream.
Soooooo.....what would you all recommend?
I'm 42, my skin can be a little dry and I want something that does everything...bit of wrinkle thingy, firm it up a touch blah blah......

All the range from Aldi is very good, and highly recommended and also, has had brilliant recommendation from many magazines for both cost, and benefits. Love it myself, and at a price that you can find out if it is for you, without wasting loads of money on something you don't like.
Be aware, that if you have not used much cream on your face in the past, it may cause you to come out in spots etc, so take it slowly and use something light.
Can I just ask - is it for sensitive skin
Some cream make my eyes water

Hmmm I have heard good things about the Aldi range, unfortunately there isn't an Aldi anywhere near where I live.
I was thinking of joining Davina on her wrinkle challenge thingy, does anyone use Garnier products?

There are so many creams on the market it`s difficult to know where to start. A day lotion/cream with a sun filter in is a good idea. A night cream with Retinol in is also a good idea. I work in a really dry environment and I`ve tried lots of day lotions. I always go back to Clinique Dramatically Different lotion. It`s a shame they won`t put a uv filter in it though. It`s worth trying as many as you can as different ones suit different people. I personally think expensive ones such as Dior and Clarins are a waste of money. You`re just paying for the name and expensive packaging. I think the Boots no 7 Perform and Protect night cream might have retinol (as does their serum).
Garnier used to do a lovely pink moisturiser - I even rang them when I could no longer get it. left my skin lovely and plump feeling

I must admit I have that before Ric.ror, I think it was with a Olay cream that gave a tan over a few days use.
My Nan always used the original Oil of Ulay and I'm wondering how good that is these days....she had the most beautiful skin.

I have quite dry skin, and I've been using L'Oreal Revitalift for a while, and a little of it seems to go a long way - I don't know what price it was, but it can't have been very expensive ot I wouldn't have bought it!
I too use the oil of Olay moisturiser every day, lovely stuff, like giving your skin a drink, and my daughter will be 50 this year, has only ever used that and looks about 30 with not a wrinkle on her beautiful skin, so some kind of recommendation for you!
Boots Time Delay range is really good and not horribly expensive. I have sensitive eyes/skin and its fine for me.
Avon anew is quite good, l'oreal revitalift, nivea visage, all about the same and I have sensitive skin and no probs with any of them
I used to use Aldi and then my Daughter suggested this one and it's really lovely..

I use Nivea or Boots Anti Wrinkle Delay. Apparently Nivea is as good as the expensive brands, does me fine. Get one without any smell, this can irritate the eyes if it is too strong and face cream doesn't need to smell anyway.

Thank you for all the answers!
I went for 2 Olay ones in the end.... one does everything apparently lol....tans too so I know I'll have to be careful around the eyes, and so I don't end up too tanned a normal Olay one to use every other day!

I love nivia body cream, much prefer it over any of the more expensive stuff. I think I've been using the aldi too long and need a change and also need eye cream too as am noticing definitely more wrinkles than last year! I'm thinking of giving nivia a go for the face since I like the body stuff so much... and I can't really afford the clarins habit I would like to acquire :c)
i use aqueous cream, no harsh chemicals and water based so good for very dry skin and only couple quid for a huge pot. Can also be used as a face wash when mixed with water
Hi, I'm the same age as you and have only ever used baby cream.
I have taken care of my skin since my teens. Always gone through the ritual of cleanse tone and moisturise twice a day and rarely wore/wear makeup. I am now well into my fifties and have only a few tiny lines around the eyes. I used Clarins products for years and now use Elemis and Decleor, expensive they may be but I get them for birthdays and Christmas presents. Go find yourself a good skincare range in one of the big stores JohnLewis for example and get yourself some testers and see what suits. I have tried the Aldi creams and found them ok they do some nice products, I love their body exfoliator but it's not always available.
Love that link Mazie, been looking for an eyegel (everything seems to be cream nowadays) as find it's more cooling (especially if put in the fridge for a bit) than cream and so much nicer on tired eyes. Looks like they do one too.

I can't use Nivea, it's never liked my skin, I can't use anything too thick though my skin is more naturally oily. I love baby lotion as a nice simple gentle make up remover and moisturiser for simple day make up.
What's your budget, Lisa?
boots no7 range very good..
