I was to get my teeth "all fixed up" and knocked out for 3 hours for treatment - but in the end couldn't go through it.

However was looking at my lovely mug shot in my car mirror and noticed one of my teeth which does have a front feeling very dirty looking - is there anything I can buy to paint/whiten it ie when I am out and about.

I will try and not smile too much.

sorry front filling
Not aware of anything. The dentist can clean or veneer of course. Anything you put on I'd suspect you could suck off again.

yes ratter it is - but it is private treatment not nhs - there is a lot of work to be done this was diagnosed 2 years this May and whilst suffer quite pain it is bearable - totally totally terrified of dentists since I had so many bad dentists - think they destroyed my teeth from when I was young.
Why don't you just get your teeth whitened. Conne? Far less than £1200 and, although your front fillings would not be exactly the same shade of white as the rest of the teeth, it would still take away any discoloration.
It's not painful and you wouldn't need to be "knocked out". I had four 20 minute back-to-back sessions in one go and, although they felt a little sensitive afterwards, the results were well worth it!

You'll also get a syringe full of the whitening treatment, which you keep in the fridge and can then top-up your treatment whenever you want.

Ask your dentist about this, or see if there are any beauty therapists in your area that offer this treatment. Make sure they're reputable though, and licensed to do it!
Ah. reading your last reply, and noting that there is other (sounds like major) work to be done, you may want to check first, to see if whitening would be suitable.
I know you can't have it if there's any holes, or exposed nerves (for obvious reasons) and you can't have it if you have gum disease.

I'm with you, I bloody hate dentists! :-(

Yes Madmen - you are right - crowns fillings one crooked tooth which has the bad filling - anyway when I was with the private dentist I was suffering with a broken shoulder at the time so couldn't cope with both pain. When I got home and looked at the suggestions she was making on paperwork there was cosmetic stuff she wanted to do (absolutely no way) - all I wanted was make pain go away as in sensitivity - too oul for cosmetic - but I may have to go some day - God I will die a death. You know as soon as I sit on the chair I start to shake vehemently - but I guess if I was knocked out it wouldn't be too bad - also I was worried about the after pain - she said I would have it for about 2 months - YUK
Well that's totally fair enough. Why inflict yourself with two lots of pain! :(
Hmm, I know what you mean about the cosmetic stuff. If you don't NEED it, then she shouldn't really be putting you under pressure to have it - although I suppose that's what most private dentists would be like. Unnecessary, but as long as you're paying, then that's fine!

Is it causing you much trouble now? Maybe see if you can register with an NHS dentist and just say you want the filling sorted out. Just thinking because if you don't, then it'll probably go on to rot and then you'll have serious pain :-(

Just the thought of going fills me with dread.
But, I had a couple of wisdom teeth taken out a few years ago (was knocked out) and it wasn't anywhere near as bad as I thought it was going to be.
I wouldn't be able to do it awake though. No, far too much of a wimp for that! lol
That's not a bad price, we pay 500€ for a root canal! I've love to be knocked out for 3hrs and have all my teeth fixed and bright white for that price!
