Please be careful with the suggestion of TRAMADOL; it is a surrogate opiate, and can become addictive. There is another thread running on this, which I've answered. The correct English spelling also is: NAPROXEN. Again repeating myself, but 'Pain is personal'. Initially try dipersible paracetamol, or in a brand name Panadol fast-acting. But again,...

I would hope that after a knee replacement, painkillers would no longer be needed, but if they were, then any painkiller would be appropriate.

I am not a big supporter of supplements in degenerative joint disease, but someone will come along soon with some advice.

there's always this

which you would need to source yourself
Yes, Naproxen is a painkiller as well as an anti-inflammatory agent.
If the pain relief is not adequate on these it would be best to discuss with your GP the next step.
Sorry....I think that i have misinterpreted your question, as you are asking if you can take another painkiller with your Naproxyn.

Yes, you can, but i wouldn't.

if the dose is not easing the pain, then increase the dose of naproxyn.
Question Author
I wondered about increasing the Naproxyn,I take two a day at the moment but don`t seem to have much effect...maybe three??
I have no idea what dose you are taking, but if i was in pain with OA I would not hesitate to take 500mgms twice daily.
Question Author
mine are 500mg tablets ,so am taking 1000mg a day
A dose of 1500mg is only recommended for limited periods, it may be worth asking GP if there is anything that will work better for you.
Question Author
will carry on with the two as perscribed and see how I go on.
