Anyone had one?

Seem to have a few digestion and bile issues, and I suspect when I see a doctor, I'll be sent for one.

Bit scared at the thought of something down my throat though and need advice reassurance.

I did it without sedation and it honestly was ok. (Had myself worried sick beforehand!) Relax in the knowledge that you can opt for sedation if you wish.
I had one just before Christmas, not the most pleasant experience, but not as bad as I thought it'd be. I had the sedation and don't remember much of it except struggling and gagging towards the end. If I had the choice I'd rather be knocked out completely, but that's more to do with my gag reflex than the procedure itself.

It's only for a few minutes and they can see everything they need to.

Good luck :)
I had one a few years ago and I took the sedation as I was quite anxious and I found it absolutely fine with no problems at all I got the injection took a few deep breath felt very relaxed and the next thing I knew was being wheeled out of the room

Ta so far. Didn't realise this had gone into beauty..
Like you I was very apprehensive when I learnt I had to have an endoscopy.

I opted for sedation, as I was worried about the gag reflex, but I seem to have gone right out, because when I came to I thought I was still waiting for the procedure!

As for the result, I learnt there was no cause for concern.

I'm sure you'll be fine, but personally I would opt for the sedation route after reading your message.

I must have been the unluckiest person with sedation, everyone else who's had it barely remembers a thing. I don't remember much of the beginning or the middle, but I certainly remember the last minute or so. If I ever have it again, I'll have to ask them to whack me up with extra.

Take the drug option, a nice wee snooze follows the procedure then they feed you and release you back into the wild.
It's all routine to the staff, relax. :-)
I had it done with sedation and found it no problem at all, but if you are at all worried have the sedation.
take the sedation .
It is spelt "demeanour" ;)

I have had 2 - both without sedation. No problems or discomfort as I was controlling my breathing to help me through them. Good luck with it and I hope the result is good for you.
I had it done a few weeks ago without sedation. It was absolutely fine. The staff kept an eye on me for half an hour afterwards & then I went home on the bus.Went out for a meal later with friends.Unless your a really nervous person avoid sedation.I was scared too,but it really is fine.
Oh dear I should have said I had it done without sedation with no problems!
I wondered about endoscopy in "Beauty"

and thought - well it didnt make me any priddier

It is OK - I have had both top and bottom - with and without ( sedation )

Top end you will almost certainly need it

but it is no big deal
I was just like you postdog, really anxious, but it was fine as soon as I had the sedation, and it was all over in no time.
