mid 30's and my hair has gone grey. I have patches of grey everywhere, looks like bald patchs till you get closer. Why is this happening to me? I want to cry. Having it coloured cost £45 a time, I cant afford that!! home kits are so messy and need doing every two weeks, cost the same basically.

Why oh why :'(

Welcome to my world. I do a home colour every 4 weeks (it's no that messy if you're careful) and for the meantime I use this http://www.boots.com/en/John-Frieda-Root-Blur-Colour-Blending-Concealer-Chestnut-to-Espresso_1794866/
Unfortunately it's probably just your genes. My OH has been totally grey since he was 30. Once you get used to it home kits aren't so bad and I keep meaning to try the John Frieda product Rocky's posted but I have been using the L'Oreal spray version and I find it very good

I dye mine at home. It's not messy at all. I get in the shower to rinse mine, just make sure you keep your eyes shut.

Thanks everyone, I will try the spray version Prudie and see how it goes. depresses me having grey hair. At least this hair concealer will save me from colouring every two weeks, how long does it last?
I have been colouring my hair for years - no home kits are not messy. Give it a go
Phleb - it shouldn't need doing every two weeks. I dye mine every 6 - 8 weeks.
I could easily do mine every 2 weeks, my hair grows quite fast and the grey is all round the hairline. The new root touch ups are a godsend.
Mine must grow really slowly.
I started having grey hairs when I was 15. I have to colour it regularly, it is not really messy.
Is your grey at the front? if mine was more spread out it wouldn't be so bad, but it's just there, staring at you. I hate it! I'd go blonde except that it doesn't suit me.
My son has got a clump of grey hair on the side of his head, he's had it since he was about 6 years old.
The grey is mainly in my cowslick so can look more like a streak.

I got my hair dyed on Monday and won't do it again until end of May. I got it cut quite short so it's even easier to dye now.
I have some grey in my hair and I am 63! Many friends have advised me to dye my hair but I will not. I believe in natural beauty. It only bothers other people and not me.
So you never wear make up, Sharon?
Never, I am a natural beauty!!
Lucky you.

I actually started dying my hair long before it started going grey. I just prefer it darker.
It is a matter of choice and what you feel comfortable with. Most of my friends wear wigs, some not from choice. One or two overdo the makeup and some just a touch of lipstick. Each to their own.
While there's breath in my body, there'll be no grey hairs on my head. Grey is too, too aging for my liking.
The spray lasts until you wash it out Phleb. I also really need to do mine every 2 or 3 weeks but my hair is plain dark brown so even a 1/4 inch on the parting and temples is really noticeable.
