on the rare occasions that i wear it i remove make up with soap and water and then use lots of face cream to make sure its off, my face looks ok
sam100 - And yes, she wants your money!! For years I have used olive oil on a tissue, any cheap olive oil will do. A bottle will last you forever, vegetable oil will also suffice, then wash off with soap & water.
i never use soap - ever. you never seem to read owt good about it - at college, our beauty tutors would tell us the same things about it being bad and blocking pores etc etc etc, as would the 'experts' who came in to talk to us about beauty and make up etc.. i use baby wipes to remove my make up and about the oil one of the higher tutors told us we shouldn't be using that on our faces either? dunno why - i gave up listening haha. really though you should cleanse, tone and moisturise - but that's common sense init?

Hi Sam
Years ago soap didn't have the natural Ph balance that the skin does so it would strip the natural oils from the surface of the epidemis (skin). Now there are products like Dove soap that have natural Ph balance which is the same as the skin but the old fallacy that soap is bad for your skin keeps cropping up.
I do use a creamy face cleanser/make up remover but wash it off with warm water and a face cloth with Dove soap or similar. I always use moisturiser and try and drink lots of fluid to keep my skin hydrated. It must work as I never get taken for my age ;-)
I believe skin types are genetic and other factors can govern how skin ages - smoking or sun bathing for example.
I have tried all sorts of make up removers, cleansers, toners and moisturisers. I spent a fortune and I tended to get breakouts. For the last year or so I have used just soap, water then nivea moisturiser and my skin is great now. No more wasting money for me!!
If soap works, then keep using it! Just bung some moisturiser on afterwards!

Personally if I used soap on any bit of my body let alone my face, it would break out in a red rash and hurt like hell, so I have to use cleansers! (Olay isn't very expensive, but the cotton wool budget mounts up!)
oilve oil is an excellent makeup remover and good for your skin then rinse skin with a good face wash depending on your skin type skin wisdowm from tesco is good cheaper range or if u can afford eve lom cleanser is excellent but the other oilive oil is fab
