I bite my nails and have tried to stop for awhile now. Any suggestions on how to stop?

I bit my nails until I was 31 and only stopped when I became pregnant and it made me feel sick (I'm not suggesting you get pregnant to stop as this is a bit radical!!) I found that putting a dark coloured nail varnish on helped as it looked really horrible if you then bit a nail and it started flaking off. Another thing that helped was wearing a claer coloured strenghening varnish as you can always pick this off rather than biting the nails. There is also a liquid called stop and grow which you can get from chemists which tastes really bitter. Good luck!
I only have one idea hun.... and it is called will power.
Try to do 5 days without biting them. The first day will be hard. The 2nd day should feel better as you've acheived something and so on.
For a prize, treat yourself to something after 30 days of no biting.
It's called the 30 day challenge but 1 day at a time is good.
Good Luck :-) xxx

i broke my habit by wrapping a small amount of micropore/surgical tape around the end of each finger (did it on the weekend so no-one would see) and that helped me. failing that i'd go with the other guy's suggesions and either get some Stop N' Grow or get some false nails put on, get a manicure & start taking pride in your lovely fingers!
i sucked my thumb for 11 years and tried everything from stop and go to mustard (ew.... horrid stuff!) nothing worked my dad used to say 'thumb bum' i think in reference to sticking it up my bum to try and make me stop but i never actually did it!! in the end i just stopped without realising in the summer before senior school and was happy i had stopped and so proud of myself!! i think the dark nail polish thing is a geat idea though! good luck x
