My freind was told this by a reputable hair colour manufacturer. Maybe you could give it a wash every day for a week in this shampoo and see what the result is. Then try a very light brown semi-permanent colour (24 washes) nice n easy do a good range. I just used light caramel brown on my highltighted hair, it's now a reddy/brown which I am pleased with.
Good luck

This may sound obvious but get yourself to a reputable hairdresser and they should be able to sort it out!
When I was 18 I drunkenly let "a friend" bleach my hair with sun in and it turned orangey yellow! Luckily the hairdresser was able to get it back to a nice chestnut colour and sort out the condition too!

I would go with that, too. I once dyed my hair dark brown and it went bottle black but anti dandruff shampoo did the trick in about five washes. I left it on for a bit between rinses, too, although I don't know if it made any difference. I also had some mega dark dye stripped at the hairdressers one time. It was really expensive and very painful but ended up a really lovely mid brown once they had applied the corrective shade over the top. The hairdresser told me that to do this latter process you must have dyed your hair the offending shade not more than 4 days ago as it makes the process much harder to reverse otherwise. Do let us know what happens x
