hi all, I'm thinking of investing in a decent skincare regime and i'm torn between clinique or dermologica, if anyone ahs experiences of one or both of these brands i'd be grateful to hear them before i splash out. Many Thanks.
I would have consultation with both. Or go have a facial & see how you skin feels after. Get a few samples & see what you think. I have used Dermologica in the past however I am using Elemis now & have been since oct 06. I am not sure if its true but I read somewhere that some of the Clinique has chemicals in it. Active M is rated at the moment. good luck.
everyones skin is different but personally i think clinique is harsh on the skin.i prefer to use products such as ren, korres and lab series.these products can be ordered on mankind.co.uk and you can also sometimes find them on ebay if your lucky
If you have even a very slightly sensitive skin - then Clinique is definitely out of bounds!
After using the 123 cleansing steps as directed by the consultant I ended up at my Dr's in agony....and couldn't even use water for two weeks. My skin never really recovered from that onslaught of harsh chemicals.
My choice would be the French products as they are kinder to the skin. Lancome is my favourite for skincare and make up.
Before you buy ask for a small pot to try at home. Any good department store will do this.
as i have psoriasis i have very dry skin! i use Biore on my face n plain old palmers coco butter 4 everywhere else! my skin is not sensitive but i find that these 2 products dont dry my skin out as much as some of the others!
I've been a fan of both over the years and definitely prefer Clinique. It leaves my skin feeling much cleaner (without drying it out - just make sure you use the right formulations for your skin - the countergirls will help you). Everyone raved about Dermalogica so I used it for six months, but it always left a film on my face and rough dry patches (supposed to be gentle but the cleanser was difficult to wash off and the moisturiser too lightweight). After going back to Clinique I vowed never to be unfaithful again! Been using it for 17 years now (I'm 33) and would recommend it to anyone. I rarely even need to use the Dramatically Different Moisturiser because my skin is always so balanced after using the facial soap and clarifying lotion.
I find clinique is suitable for problematic and sensitive skin. Dermologica seems to be the product of choice for the "more mature" lady. I have however discovered Burts Bees, completly natural, celebs love them, and i bought little trial bags from Miss Groovy they were really good value and its reassuring that theres no "nastys" in them.
I wouldn't recommend personally Clinique's skin care - I used their three step skin care routine and felt like I had been sand blasted. The Toner is very harsh and stung and reminded me a bit of nail varnish remover! It's horses for courses though. I do agree with the comment about asking if you can use a tester before you buy as these makes are expensive so you don't want to find you don't get on with the brand after you've spent a lot of money on it. I've only used Dermologica once (a scrub type thing) and really liked it.
I would use demalogica if i were u, i am a beauty therapist & we have done skin tests with clinique and the majority of their products are of the PH scale of skin balances, it turns your skin to acid basically!!
