Why is it difficult to find a stylist who can cut curly hair properly? Looking for a good stylist in Renfrewshire who can revive my long curly hair without trying to straighten it ...

Long, naturally curly hair can look beautiful as it is, with just a trim every couple of months or so (most hairdresser's can manage that!). Your hair can be parted to one side, down the middle, or scraped back and French plaited. If you fancy a shorter style, a chin-length wedge cut can look very nice, especially if allowed to hang slightly longer at the front than the back.

Thanks taperface. You'd be amazed at how many trims Ive had which have been a disaster and knocked all the curl out. Then the stylist insists on drying it straight for a 'change' to cover up the mess. lol
Awww....refuse to pay if they don't do as you ask. Their job is to see satisfied customers walk out of the door, and you have every right to demand they rectify anything you don't agree with - unless that refers to a trim! Ha ha. Anyway, I seriously think your hair sounds nice as it is. A glossy but wild look can look fabulous for evenings, and you can pin it up, leaving tendrils, during the day. Btw - my mother in law lives in Renfrewshire, so I'll ask her where there's a good sylist for you.

Thansk very much, you are very helpful.
Hello - it's only me again. Try these & see what you think: Helena Stirling International Hair & Beauty, Kelvin House, 3-5 High St., Paisley, PA1 2AE - 0141 8491400.
Clairs Hair & Beauty, 521 Clarkston Rd., Muirend, Glasgow, G44 3PN - 0141 6335870.
Don't know exactly where you are, but m-in-l lives in Erskine. OMG - she's been SO unwell, & now has a mobile hairdresser. I'm a few 100 miles away, so sorry can't be more helpful, but she says these two are O.K.

Hi again, many thanks for that I will call the salons and go have a wee consultation with the stylists there. Thanks again for all your help. Best wishes to your mother in law, sorry to hear she is unwell.

No probelm - I hope your hair gets sorted. Think mine ought to be next......!!
I can relate to that, Weeal. Hairdressers either insist on straightening my hair, or drying it with a diffuser so I end up with some big massive afro/tight curl mop, and they smile at me in the mirror and say "is that ok for you?" and I sit there and wonder if they are seeing what I am seeing...... I have problems with frizz, but tend to trim the ends myself... I know.... Unfortunately, I have a high forhead so HATE scrapping my hair back, but cannot have a fringe due to the curls and my hair doesn't naturally grow/fall forward at the front if you know what I mean... hate it :0(

Hi Amber, isnt it fun? lol It has taken me most of my 42 years to appreciate my curls tho, I used to try blow drying in various shapes/styles/lengths but now that everyone else is straightening theirs I do really wanna keep the curls. If only they wouldnt have a mind of their own haha
