i am 34 and i cannot pluck my eyebrows, they swell up so bad it looks like i have been in a boxing match, waxing does the same. Shaving them carefully results in scabs over the removed hairs. On Monday i used a cream remover and its has happened again, swollen eyebrows and tiny pin pick scabs over the removed hair follicles. Yet the patch test was fine on the back of my ear. Do i have to spend the rest of my life with horrible eyebrows which i hate, or does anyone have advice. I cant afford anything more than about 30 if i pay to have them done. They have been professionally done in the past with the same problems. Serious help needed now.
Whenever I wax my eyebrows I am left with big red blotchy patches where the hair has been RIPPED out! It usually lasts 2 days, then after that I can be prone to a bit of scabs or dry patches where the sensitive areas heal up. So long as I apply a sensitive moisturiser though you wouldn't notice.
So if you can work through the first couple of days of having your skin flare up then that's all you need to do. Some people are just very sensitive to it.
pc is right though. Threading is meant to be the best option for people who are hyper-sensitive.
thanks for the replies, i am now looking at the possibility of threading, this eyebrow problem has been a problem for me since i was about 20, but now i am newly single, i just want to look my best, without such severe reactions.
Have you tried putting a hot towel over your eyebrows before plucking to open the pores then as soon as you have finished apply an ice pack for ten minutes to cool the area?
thanks i might try the hot flannel and then ice pack suggestion. Waxing again scares me, cos it hurt so bad last time, but now a week later my eyebrows have calmed down, i might try the hot cold thing with plucking and see how i go. I still got 2 weeks, until back to school, cos i dont want to be the mum in the playground with red raw eyebrows. And as no fella on the scene yet i got lots of time to practice.
hi there - i always have mine waxed - the skin around the area is a little red for a couple of hours - but after that all is fine - i couldn't pluck mine, i so hate the pain of it , waxing only lasts seconds and is so quick and easy, job done and fabbie looking eyebrow's x
ooh meant to say get them waxed at a beauty salon not at home - all done in 15 minutes - i could never do the waxing at home - way too scarey!! better off to get someone else to do it - my local place only charges a few 's x
