My boyf has some really skinny ghd's which are great but when I'm rushing in the morning they're not ideal as the plates aren't wide enough so they can take a little while to do my hair as it's long and when it's a work day I don't have a little while to spare! So I wanted a pair with wider plates but didn't want to spent lots because I can be a bit whimsical about these things and am not sure if I'll be too tired and won't end up using them.
I spoke to a really nice girl in boots who said she had a pair of babyliss and they're great but the plates on hers are quite narrow - as was all of the ones in boots. So on her recommendation, I popped to Argos and they had a pair of Babyliss with the wide plates - they were originally (in the last catalogue) 49.99 and in this one are 34.99 but on special offer for 23.99 at the moment. I got them and have just tried them - and I'm really pleased with the results. They heat up within 30 secs and go to 230 degrees and I couldn't really tell the difference in using them or the ghds. That said I have pretty straight hair anyway and just use straightners as a finish, but I would say if they continue like this I'll be happy. They also have a function where you can charge them and use them cordless.
