Hi, i'm 16 years old and i have longish straight hair. Recently though, so much of it is falling out; i end up picking so much hair off the back of my coat etc. I'm a tad worried there is something wrong with it. I wash my hair every other day with 'Treseme' shampoo and conditioner and use hair straighteners, but not too often and always use heat protection serum, i don't know if either of these may have something to do with it. It may be normal but it seems like i'm losing SO much hair! any reasurance welcome! :)

Hair should be combed from the ends upwards, so as to avoid breaking the hair shafts. Hair straighteners will cause hair to become dry and brittle, so it may break off at ends and middle of shafts, this would mean you are losing more hair.
You should probably only worry if the hairs are all coming out at the root and if you have bald or thinning patches, but if you are worried, you should see your GP or a Trichologist.

I had the same problem a few years ago!
Went to my a friend who's a hairdresser for help.
It turns out that shampoo brands in the supermarkets etc....treseme being one of the worst! are full of silicone (basically plastic!) which coats the hair everything u wash it by then using the irons u melt the plastic onto ur hair even more so it is completely suffocated!!
U need to get a detox/cleansing shampoo to remove it all and then invest in a good quality shampoo & conditioner and dont worry although they are a bit more expensive they last like 4 times longer.
Also the best heat protection to use is the ghd one in the gold bottle and u can expect they know what they're doing!
Good luck! x
