i have foundation, concealer, bronzer, blusher, eyebrow pencil lip balm, tweezers, foundation brush and mascara (lancome addictee) and i wear them all everyday. but thats sounds like i wear loads!!
If I had to choose essentials it would be concealer, lippy and mascara. The others I could manage without.

lol

I don't wear makeup at the moment apart from lipgloss. I have bought touche eclat radiant touch yesterday and wear that too now but I want some other key pieces to make me look radiant and beautiful without wearing a lot of makeup
The key is to wear as much make-up as you need to achieve the look, but to look as though you've hardly got any on, karmgirl. :)

If you have greasy skin and/or open pores, use Clinique's Pore Minimiser. I swear by it and my make-up lasts twice as long.

I love make-up! :)
I swear by Clarins Beauty Flash Balm. Amazing stuff and worth every penny (it lasts for ages though).

But then if you wore lots of makeup but it looked natural and say your bf thought it looked so natural you weren't wearing any then what happens when you take it off argh
Mascara!! Day to day it is all I wear and I feel naked without it.
Going out I wear: Foundation (just a little bit to even out where needed) eyeshadow, eyeliner and mascara. It's very rare I wear anything on my lips, can't stand the feel of anything on them. x
I don't wear very much makeup at all these days. I actually think make up makes you look a lot older when you are old like me, especially eyeshadow. I can't stand foundation, but Benefit concealer (Bo-ing) is excellent.
Husband of many years standing (30+) wouldn't notice if I had make up on or not ;o( !!
Agree with daffi (hi, hun!), though: won't go anywhere without mascara. I love Rimmel's Glam'eyes.

I also use translucent powder beneath my eyes as my lower lashes are quite long and I tend to get mascara smudges otherwise.
I always wear lippy...I look sick without it. And I love my eyemakeup...that comes from years of wearing specs when I was younger So it is lots of mascara (L'oreal's Telescopic )....and smokey eyes-Urban Decay. I swear by their EyeShadow Potion. No smudging for the whole day.
HI Whisks!! I use Maybeline Last Stylist mascara. Have tried loads of others but always come back to that one. I use a baby wipe to take off any mascara on my skin after my mascara has dried x
my husbands the same, lofty lottie! you could see it as he always thinks like you're not wearing any...or he always thinks you are :) lovely mr ed prefers me without (but he's clearly crazy).

i swear by lancome colour id '03' and star bronzer 'terre', and if i'm pushing the boat out, lancome l'extreme mascara, but i have to be honest i've never seen a difference between a 5 mascara and a 20 one.
Maybelline Lash Stylist is also my pick! I did many experiments with other mascaras, but their v-comb gives perfect results (no clumping!) and adds just the right amount of length.

Other essentials would be:
Concealer - for those problem areas
Blush - for a fresh summer look (I also use it as eyeshadow!)
A quick swipe of mascara and some lip gloss, and you're ready to go!

As for tools, you don't need more than a big fluffy brush for the blush, and tweezers to keep your brows in shape.

Those are my essential items in summer. Once you are comfortable with that, it's easy to add to the list with foundations and eye shadow colours, different eye liners and a variety of other goodies to experiment with :)
For me, it's a Mac concealer and a Bodyshop concealer. 2 Rimmel Lipsticks, one bright, one natural, 2 Mac lipliners, a Mascara and eyeliner which I rarely use. A frosted lip gloss and Corn Silk translucent powder, which I couldn't live without.
