Is there a way to remove fake tan?

The experts recommend using a body exfoliator, and then washing with a cheap shower gel (it will work better than a pricier one!). If it is just a localised mark you want to remove, ie, a streak or stained hands, then lightly massaging toothpaste can help lighten it.

If it is St tropez and newly applied (within 6 hours), they have a fake tan removal product.
