I want to find out if it's safe to use a blonde over-the-counter hair dye on highlighted hair?? I've done a bit of research but Im still a little confused. My hair is naturally light brown. My DARK roots are approx 2in (AWFUL!! Please help .. My husband and myself are meeting his long lost daughter for the first time in 18 years tomorrow and Im terrified ..PLEASE HELP..THANK YOU :)

£300p.a. for professional hilites - less than £1 a day! Over the shelf color products are less strength than required, for the safety of producers.
I had the same problem and have just dyed mine dark brown with a home hair dye and it's fine!
What about hairdressing schools, are there any near you? You could get them done there for a fraction of the price, look in the yellow pages for one
like chazza i would recommend a college / hairdressing school . i often go to them for a cut / colour and they are great at a FRACTION of the price (last time i had a colour / cut and hail head of foil highlights it was £19!!!!!! also (and this is what i have done last two months) find a salon nearby that has appprentice stylists. I go n a wed evening to a trainee and the cut cost me £ 14 whilst a colour (no highlights this time) was £24.) they do a super super job.
