My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and she is always complaining that all her make up is dirt cheap and not very good. So I was thinking of getting her a bunch of really nice posh make up. BUT of course I have absolutely no idea about make up...

So could some one please put me in the right direction of what would be good to get her? I need to know what are the good products and brands please.

She never wears lipstick but wears loads and loads of eye make up.

Thanks in advance!

Everyone has their favourites but Mac seems to always be very popular. Why not get her a session with one of the counter staff - it would be hard for you to pick the make-up for her.
By the sounds of it she needs the same brand of make-up Coco the Clown uses
If she likes eye make up then you could get her a pallette of powder eye shadows. Yves Saint Laurant, Dior and Bobby Brown do some good ones. That way she can mess around an experiment.
there you go, joeluke, spreading your unique charm and happiness!
They were doing a great offer with MAC.

It was something like £25 and you got an hours consultation (their make up artists are fantastic!) then you get the £25 to put towards buying products.

That much won't get you too far with MAC but it's brilliant stuff, especially if she wears a lot of eye make up.

I'd be made up if someone got this for me.
Just telling it like it is sara........can't stand false overmade up women

A woman who has real beauty needs minimal or no make up at all
A lot of women may NEED no makeup....but that does not mean they do not ENJOY wearing it.
I am sure you are capable of more diplomacy then you show on here,joeluke...try it sometime.
I forgot to answer the question......I too would say MAC...looks gorgeous, though I have never used it. If she likes to experiment and have fun with her eyes, then Urban Decay is good-with a fantastic array of colours.
dont forget brushes, Body shop do a set for about 40 quid, one day I will have some
If it's eye mahe-up I'd say Bobby Brown...
What about a gift card from Boots then she can choose what she likes - you could buy her a nice make up with brushes etc and put the gift card in it - I would love something like that!
I was given some Smashbox eye shadows by a lady who had bought them and never used them and they are lovely!
4get...I've got them brushes. They are brilliant...especially the foundation one.

I hardly ever wear makeup either....
is that so joeluke - and I thought it was just laziness
Ummm I only wear makeup on a night out. I have always wanted them brushes, I have the foundation one and the eyeshaddow one. I buy one at a time from ebay
It didn't think of looking on ebay. Are they much cheaper?
Yer. I always go to body shop parties but never buy anything, then next day I look on ebay. I have every cingle one of those cube eyeshadows. All £6.00 from ebay instead of £16
Benefit and Clinique are both really nice brands too :)
mac mac mac....I love the stuff if she likes eye make up get her a colour similar to what she normally wears but a mac one. The mac prep & prime is AMAZING. (she'll use it before applying mascara and it really volumises the eyes) The mac liquid eye liner is amazing too, especially if she applys fake eyelashes. Mac has an amazing fix+ spray that is apparently their staple for mac...i have some and carry it around to refresh my face...smells awesome too!!

As another little tip before she puts all her make up on its good to have a moisturiser for the face, benefit has a tinited moisturiser called yourebel...Its amazing!!!

lucky girl she is :)
i am a makeup artists and although all the expensive brands are great so to are some of the cheaper ones...particularly certain items i have found that i actually think are better than many of the expensive ones

i would suggest you get her a voucher for her fave brand...that way she can make th emost of it, and choose what she wants

the trouble with pallettes and kits is that there is often only a few colours you like and you end up with lots of unused bits.
