Would you take precautions around toddlers ?
I am not sure, but I did not think it was contagious. I have had it twice and no-one in contact with me caught it. I was not put into isolation either, so I don't think anyone was afraid they would catch it. However, I could be wrong as there may be different kinds of pneumonia.
Just googled it and it seems that pneumonia is not contagious but the viruses that cause it are similar to the common cold and influenza which are contagious. I find this a bit confusing so reckon to be on the safe side I would keep toddlers away. It said in the article not to kiss but apparently a hug is O.K. Also keep hands well washed especially when preparing food.
Loads of different types, and not all contagious.

You can get viral or bacterial pneumonia, and apparently fungal pneumonia too.
Lovely lotty, that explains it all and very concisely.
Thanks for that lottie, I never knew that. A friend of ours died a couple of years ago, he had pneumonia, he always kissed my cheek when we said goodbye. The last time we saw him two days before he died.
I remember having it one Christmas time. I have impaired lungs (but they are OK at present) and kept getting lung infections and then pneumonia. The following year we all had a sickness bug all over Christmas. Then a few years later I fell down the stairs on Christmas morning and fractured a vertebra.

Christmas is obviously not for me.
A lot of people with terminal illnesses actually die from pneumonia rather than the illness they are suffering from terminally. You find it often written on death certificates as cause of death.
I thought Starbuck was calling me Lovely Lottie!! :o)
My Mum died of Pneumonia although she had Cancer.
So did my Dad, Carlton, and my Father in Law. Just so common.
I've noticed that lottie, pneumonia is often mentioned, my dad had pnuemonia as well as heart failure on his death certificate.

I'd go away somewhere for Christmas in future.
askyourgran. We do very low profile Chrismases these days!! It's safer!!
I hope that`s the way I go, rather than in pain with what I`ve got.
Oh bless you Carlton. I think we all wish for a painfree departure. Pneumonia is perhaps a kinder way. One thing is certain though, we all have to go at some time.
