dentist again

Went to my dentist last week and without further ado I was not going back as I was too nervous however she rang me yesterday and has reassured me re about a few things - but one thing i forgot to ask her was - (I need excessive plaque removed) but she mentioned stripping of the gums - can anybody explain to me what this without me ringing her again Thank you

i con. i dont know what she means, but im pleased you are going back, is your dentist aware of your fear of the dental work that you require, is this the female dentist sandy recommended ?

thanks for your interest anneasquith- yes it is the same dentist as Sandy suggested - i had cancelled the appointment but her receptionist forgot to inform her and I did think she had a nice attitude when she rang me because she thought I had forgotten the appointment - she lost 2 hours work and her attitude was very good - however she has told me to use these interden sticks which are hard (for me to get in) but if i persevere I could maybe get some plaque to loosen - and will think of going back to her in the near future as she is a dentist which will sedate me for the length of time required.
well con. she appears to care about you, i hope you return. re the sticks, most chemist and supermarkets stock them. they come in an assortment of widths , good luck
Sorry I cannot think of anything that the term 'stripping of the gums' relates to.
