F.A.O. sqad---- blood tests
6 Answers
I would be grateful for your expert advice on blood test requirements for immigration. To put you in the picture, I have had a leak of protein from one kidney for some 40 years now, so could this be the reason they are asking for Serum Creatinine, eGFR (or creatinine clearance, and microalbumin creatinine ratio? They have all this info now, but are asking for further checks. Please put my fears to rest that this is not serious enough to warrant a refusal of residency.

I thought that you were already living in the UK.
Are you immigrating into the UK?
Has the "protein leak" been investigated.......where? how? when? and what was the conclusion?
I will then try to answer your query.

How right you are..........yes, it is me who has a daughter-in-law in NZ with spontaneous CSF leakage. How clever of you to remember! I am at present a UK resident who is planning to emigrate to NZ, We are going through the process of having our applications looked at right now. I was told of this leak of protein some 40 years ago. I was never informed what was causing it and no further 'tests' have been done since then. Apart from the usual 'sample' required every now and then! I have had numerous 24 hour urine tests over the years but, even they seem to have been stopped for quite a while now. This has never caused me any problems, so I have assumed it has never been a cause of worry to the medical profession as It is never discussed now. I appreciate any help you may be able to give me. Thank you for caring.
Ah! so you are emigrating.
This is not my field of expertise, the New Zealand immigration rules, but here are my thoughts.
Whether blood tests are required in say someone over the age of 30years old would depend entirely on the past medical history and if that was clear, then no blood tests would be required.
Now in you particular case, they clearly have picked up this protein loss in your past history and do not want to be saddled with an immigrant who may need expensive kidney management. The tests that you mention are tests of renal function, to evaluate the condition of your kidneys.
Now from what you have said it is clear to me that your kidneys are functioning normally, you say that you are well and I cannot see any impediment on health grounds to your application.
