My mum swears it happens to her after eating beetroot, but it has never happened to me! mind you I don't eat very much beetroot, but that may change as I am growing some in my garden this year, so if I end up with a bumper crop, I may have a different answer.
Yup comes out red or pink depending on how much you've eaten. I bought 2lb of black cherries in Bury St Emunds market last Wednesday and pigged out on them, frightened the life out of me, the next day.
I was just going to say, I'm not sure about when you go to the loo, but it definitely comes up if you're sick.
I nearly called an ambulance, once. That goes for Strawberry jelly too! :)
If you've eaten a lot of beetroot it will work its way out in a couple of days em, but if you feel worried at all do please go to your gp. My sis thought she had a spot that was bleeding, put off going to the docs for a couple of weeks but she had bowel cancer. Caught pretty early and she is clear of it now.
It depends on how you cook it......roast it then guaranteed red poop and pee - and with a certain pong......good for the system though as it is hell of an antioxidant...........
Be aware that ingestion of beetroot can colour urine red and also discolour stools, causing the unwary to hot-foot it to their GP for urgent tests. The pinkness of your pee depends on the acidity of your stomach; some people don't see pink pee afterwards and some do (approximately 10 - 14%). If you don't see pink pee then your stomach is at the strongly acidic end of the normal range - if you do see pink pee then your stomach is at the less acidic end of normal, and the colour hasn't been broken down on the way through your gut.
