i was driving today and the car behind me was so far up my backside it was almost in the drivers seat, when he got the chance he overtook me only to slow down and go no further than in front of me! why do motorists do that, cant see the point, if youre goping to over take then make it worth your while
I always wonder at the people that make a risky overtaking move to get one car further along what is obviously a queue of traffic. if it's clear ahead of one slow moving car then sure, overtake, but what's the point when there is lots of cars.
drives me demented - travelling in the peeing rain this morning doing over 50 in a 60 limit with my two kids in the car on a long straight stretch of road and some a-hole rides up my backside for a while, then overtakes and speeds away for the 300 meters left before a 30 limit and set of traffic lights - really worthwhile putting my kids at risk then!!!!
I hate it! 'cus I'm in a lil ol' shed, I've actually considered turning my lights on and off quickly (so the rear lights come on looking like brake lights) to see how they react to that! But I thought it may not be very safe!!
So instead, when people are right up my backside I tend to ease off a bit on the speed.. sometimes not just a bit!
I wish someone would invent a sort of sign system where you could push a button & a sign would appear in your rear window saying this is a 30 mph area (or whatever) please leave a safe space behind my car.

I think I've given up trying to understand other drivers. They're all different, and many seem to exist simply to find annoying things to inflict on me anyway.
My latest car has cruise control which I use a lot, it amazes me how many drivers overtake, then slow down, then speed up when you pull out to re- overtake, and on, and on .....
I do quite a lot of miles and I frequently despair at the monumental stupidity of other drivers. My policy when tailgated (and I tend not to dawdle myself) is to slow right down, and let them overtake me on the basis I would rather they are in front of me than behind.
A mate of mine when someone was tailgating him would slow right down without showing brake lights then suddenly drop into 2nd gear & speed away fast leaving them way behind.
