iggle, are you going to post a picture of your tongue ?
What are you expecting fissures in the tongue to be able to tell you? They may be an indication of some medical ailments but if you have any worries you should be seeing your own medically qualified GP, not some practitioner of Chinese 'medicine'.
there are numerous articles ( medical ) re the tongue, but dont look up,,,,,,,,, hairy tongue !!!!!!!!
Iggle, I think it usually means that you are deficient is B vitamins, it's usually best to take some B complex for a month, and then all will be fine!........
The tongue portrays changes in many medical conditions either secondary to those conditions or diseases primarily of the tongue.

An example of the former is pernicious anaemia and of the latter a disorder called "Geographical tongue"

Yes....the use of the tongue has intrigued me for many decades.
I agree with welsh....my sister had this problem many years ago,and was prescribed Vit B. I've also read of it many times.
I have had geograhical tongue for years now.....most of the time it doesn't bother me....just flares up now and then....i get deep fissures in my tongue and holes.....couple of days and then we're back to normal.....the white coating on the tongue changes shape each day.....hence the geographical tongue...looks like a different map every day! They tell me there is nothing they can do for it and no reason for actually getting it!!!
