Help! One side of my face felt a bit painful and is now swelling up really quickly, just in front of my ear, what on earth can it be?

that or you have a blocked duct running from your ear to your throat, if your breathign starts to become effected get to hospital

be careful...............if it gets worse, get to casualty, you may need a shot of epinephrine.

Could be a blocked salivary gland.

Could it be an abcess on your tooth? Is your gum tender?

I'd get it checked out quickly if it's still swelling and swelling quickly as allergic reactions can be nasty, similarly other things which might be causing the swelling.

I'd get it checked out rather than waiting for answers on here.

Go to your local walk in centre, tonight, while it's still open - don't speculate, do something about it!

I'm back. Rang NHS direct and they were concerned about possible breathing difficulties so I went to our walk-in centre. They think it may be a blocked gland and I need to go for an x-ray in the morning. Very painful. Thanks for your input people.

hope they gave you some pain killers, glad you have had it seen to and hope the resolution is as pain free as possible

A stone in the parotid duct.......no big deal.

Allergies very rarely are asymmetrical and are generalised or bilateral.

Hi there. Went to my docs on Weds morning and as the swellinh had almost disappeared, she didn't consider it worth sending me for an x-ray. So far, may face is back to normal, very strange episode. When I went to the walk-in centre the other night, the doc there said very casually " I don't think it's a tumour because it came up so rapidly" a flippin' tumour wouldn't have even crossed my mind! talk about reassurance.
