I used to run (at least) a half marathon distance 3 or 4 times per week, without even feeling the slightest bit stiff or tired. (If I'd have had the time I could have run well over 50 miles, with no preparation whatsoever, without feeling stressed). These days I can start to ache if I run down the road to the railway station! That's partly due to advancing age but it's mainly due to my lack of REGULAR exercise. One hour step classes are fine if
(a) you build up to them gradually ; and
(b) you do them at least 3 times per week.

Tinkerbell, firstly let me say that I'm no expect, but I do know and I would suggest that you warm up and warm down properly (there's plenty of these simple exercises on the web) to allow oxygen that reacts with the relevant leg muscle tissue fluids, to do so more affectively and efficiently. This has been the cause of your post step aches & pains. I'm afraid the trainers just want to get you in and out so they get more cash from the next batch of punters, everything is rushed. Good health, lol. :)
ooops! What a ninny I forgot to leave it - sorry, here it is :)
