Every so often (like today) I get an absolutely terribly itchy spot on the sole of one of my feet. N amount of scratching relieves it nor do creams like Lanacane.
The itch seems to be deep under the skin and can last as long as 2 or 3 days.
I don't feel it warrants bothering my doctor about it and I just wondered if anyone else suffers from this problem or has found a way of relieving it?
I am a lady in my late 50's.
At the same age as you I developed the same problem. Right foot only and couldn`t see a thing. It would wake me at night and I wore a hole in the top stair carpet trying to relieve it. Eventually I asked the doctor who, with the help of a magnifying glass! diagnosed eczema. Never had that before. Prescribed cream helped but still returns slightly. Lots of foot cream and one foot out of the bed at night helps.
Hi Tinkerpuss, might it be a touch of athlete's foot ? That can cause the most horrible itch and drive anybody potty. You don't need much of a flare up to be uncomfortable.
Have you got a cat? Occasionally I get a dog hair that works into the skin on the sole of a foot and itches like fire. It takes a magnifying glass to see it and tweezers to pull it out. Odd time one inflames (about twice ever) then its easy to see as you get a red mark where the hair is.
Thanks folks, I have had athlete's foot in the past and this is very different. Eczema is a possibility but I actually do have a cat and had never thought of possibly having got a hair that has worked it's way into my skin.
I'm off to look for a magnifying glass!
