Excessively dry mouth/thirst, extreme lethargy.

I am nearly 75 years old. Apart from an artificial hip, which precludes jogging and the like, I am usually fairly fit. Over the last week ,or so, I have been waking at night with a really dry mouth. I take a bottle of water to the bedroom , the obvious result is that I do not get an unbroken nights sleep.
During the day, I seem to have no energy to do anything at all. We live in Cyprus and are fortunate enough to have a swimming pool in the back garden, so twice a day I do at least 45mins aerobics (or my version thereof), I have always been fit and this feeling of lethargy is most unusual for me.
Has any body any suggestions please?
PS Doctors in Cyprus are quite expensive.

You need a blood test to diagnose your condition. Until that has been done you cannot be sure there is nothing to be concerned about. I know diabetes causes extreme thirst, lethargy etc. The cost of seeing a GP is irrelevent really. Your health is more important. Please get yourself checked out.

Please have a check up for diabetes
I agree that you must see your GP for a blood test as it may well be an underactive thyroid.

if you are passing a lot of water and getting up several times in the night to pass water, then diabetes might be a consideration.

Get a blood test.

Thank you all for your interest and suggestions. I will get a blood test , although I had decided that the "increased nocturnal activity " was due to the fact that I am drinking a lot of water , including during the night.
Once again thank you all.
