Flabby stomach

I want to get rid of my flabby stomach and want to use the Gym. I have never been to one before and so am bit nervous. Since I work 5 days a week, would 1 day a week make a difference to be trim ?

Pardon my ignorance - please help !

can i check if you are female or male?

either way, it is the quality not quantity of specific exercises that will help! you may be better off doing 10 mins a day PROPERLY than puffing a way in an expensive gym once per week!

Sorry, I am male in early 30s
in that case, my advice may not apply, but i was going to say that a 1hr per week pilates worked for me (and cheap)!

One very good exercise to do whenever you think about it is pull your stomach muscles in and hold for a count of 5, release and continue until you're bored. You can do this waiting at the supermarket till, waiting in any queue and even while brushing your teeth.

meant to say, the *class itself* was 1hr per week and the i followed the principles all week myself!

and posture and diet/nutrition plays a big part, whatever your gender!
Why can't you go to the gym every evening after work? My other half does that for about an hour each time and it has taken him 6 months to tone up.

the gym is bit far off from where i work, plus i don't drive.
My oh comes home and then goes to the YMCA gym near our home, do you have a gym nearer to where you live rather than near work?
If you walk more, and pull your stomach in all the time you're walking, that would be a start.
Do work a out at home. Use the gym to teach you how to do a proper work out.

Like Daffy's husband, I used to go to the gym 5 days a week. It took 6 months, and about 200 sit up's a time for me to see my stomach muscles.
...and don't get the notion that a 'men's health' six-pack is healthy or normal. They do terrible things to themselves to look like that for photo-shoots.

Well im just looking to be toned, not interested in muscles.
Eat sensibly, exercise sensibly, and wear correctly-fitting clothes, and you'll look even more gorgeous than you do now.

Thats one the points of getting rid of the stomach so i can feel and look good in clothing. The belly sticks out :(
there's sticking out normal and sticking out overweight. Only you can judge. But the nature of not being a teenager is that your stomach says hello world.
This really works - lie flat on your back on the floor, raise both legs (at the same time) about 6-7 inches off the floor, hold them there for a few seconds and then lower them, then repeat. Do this several times and gradually increase the number of lifts you do at one time. Do this small thing ever day and in time your tum will flatten - it worked for me. Though I would also incorporate other exercises as well, the most important thing is that you do the exercises daily a few minutes a day is all that's needed.
I started drinking hot water with lemon last monday as recommended it by my doctor, I have it first thing on a morning instead of coffee(which i used to have) I still eat the same and I am utterly amazed to have losy 5lb in 6 days! I know its just flushing my system out but my stomach has shrunk and in this short space of time I no longer have a muffin top! try it
There are also foods to avoid at certain times which can contribute to a blown up tummy. For example; don't eat fruit or fruit juice during or after a meal. They ferment in the stomach with the other food you've eaten and so build up gas and your tummy bloats. If you eat fruit or drink fruit juice on an empty stomach they leave the stomach rapidly as fruit is broken down quickly and no bloating. If you have fruit juice for breakfast drink it as soon as you get up and wait half an hour before breakfast (have shower) or drink it for 11ses. It's surprising how true this is.
