thanks sqad had THR in 2009 the hip replacement was metal on metal i had a severe reaction to the chrome and cobalt from the implant had revision hip surgery 2010 pinnacle stem left in but had polyurethane socket implanted since then i have suffered constant pain the top of the femur now has radiolucent lines and my surgeon says i need this 3rd surgical operation to put a longer stem in in a hope this will resolve the issue i dread going back into NHS and I'm likely to receive compensation as are hundreds of others taking action against the company who supplied these implants via solicitors acting on our behalf and i think i would prefer to go privately for personal reasons
That is a terrible story...a THR lasting only two years and then a revision one year later.
My advice is don,t do anything unless you pick your surgeon and Orthopaedic Unit very carefully as the outcome of yet another revision is variable as to the relief of pain and gait.
Which part of the country do you live?
Getting back to your question......this will depend upon how long you stay in hospital, but with surgeon, anaesthetist and hotel facilities one is looking at £5,000.
I must emphasise........pick your surgeon very carefully, as this will be the last "bite of the cherry."

This site suggests a cost of between £7,500 and £12,000 - a revision could well cost more.

Looking at slaney's websites, I seem to be a bit out of date and would take his links as gospel.
Cornwall is a long way away from where I had in mind......but i would travel ANYWHERE to get the right advice, as this is your last throw of the dice.
Now, if I were in your position, i would Google.
