I stopped taking HRT after a year's course of it in June. (When I started HRT I was still having fairly regular but very light periods) I am still getting hot flushes and some disturbed nights sleep but managing OK with them. During the time I took HRT I did get "withdrawal bleeds" every month but now haven't had a bleed for 12 weeks. Is it possible now that my fertile days are completely over and I won't have any more?

No, I'm afraid it isn't as modern thinking needs at least one year of no bleeding for the menopause to be celebrated.

Not necessarily. I used to go 3-4 months without a period during the run up to full menopause 18 months ago (I'm only 44 by the way).

You have to wait a year for it officially.I just wish the hot sweats would go,it has been 6 years now!(nothing to celebrate!)

Does having a mirena coil fitted mask the symptoms of the menopause, does anyone know?

I know that they officially say a year, but because withdrawal bleeds are not periods as such, I don't really know when my regular periods stopped. My doctor did say that my chances of getting pregnant are virtually nil.

Falcon......no bleeding means just that.....no bleeding....withdrawal or otherwise.

the trouble is that withdrawal bleeds might have been masking true menstruation.
